Successful Neurosurgery at IMaH Highlights Impact of Ghana Medical Trust Fund

International Maritime Hospital (IMaH) has successfully performed neurosurgery on an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with a brain tumour, with the procedure fully funded by the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF).

The successful intervention marks an important milestone in the partnership between IMaH and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, demonstrating the impact of financial support in enabling access to specialised healthcare.

For the young beneficiary and his family, the Fund’s support helped remove the significant financial barrier associated with complex neurosurgical care, making it possible for him to receive the treatment he needed.

The procedure was successfully carried out by the neurosurgical team at IMaH, reinforcing the hospital’s capacity to provide specialist-led care for complex neurological conditions. IMaH provides neurosurgical services for a range of conditions affecting the brain, spine and nervous system, including brain tumours.

IMaH is an accredited healthcare partner of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, which provides financial support for approved specialised medical care, including surgeries, specialist treatment and related services.

The hospital expresses its appreciation to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund for the support that made this intervention possible and commends the clinical team involved in the successful procedure.

The outcome is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when financial support, specialist expertise and timely medical intervention come together to improve access to quality healthcare.

For IMaH, the successful surgery is not only a clinical achievement, but also a reflection of its commitment to providing specialist-led care and better outcomes for patients.
